In a retrospective study of 101 patients with deep venous thrombosis, the diagnostic value of the 131 examinations (endoscopic, ultrasonographic, radiologic…) done for searching for a possible cancer (3 new cases discovered at all) has been studied. All of the 77 (59 %) routine examinations failed to discover any cancer, contrary to 5 of the 54 (9,2 %) explorations oriented by clinical examination or other explorations.
