A technique for preparing the rat for long polygraphic recordings is described. It consists in making a prosthesis, holding the deep and cortical electrodes, to be fixed to the skull of the animal. It is also possible to place electrodes during operation as well as muscle and periocular electrodes. This technique gives good reproducibility and recording can be continuous without restricting the animal's movement.
